Challenge

  • In total, there is a product range of 740 different implants with various size gradations, which need to be packaged in small quantities. It must be possible to switch quickly and safely to other formats.

  • Cleanroom requirements of class ISO 8

  • High requirements for seal quality and cost-effectiveness – even for small batches

Solution

  • KS-PL medplus® sealing machine, which meets GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and GEP (Good Engineering Practice) standards

  • Around 740 different products are manually placed into automatically fed blisters

  • Tyvek is punched with lasers to enable a format change within eight minutes without a punching tool

  • All six formats are accommodated on one sealing tool to minimize setup times

Bastian Muffler
Vice President at Aesculap AG - part of the B. Braun Group

The flexibility of the system with regard to other formats was very important to us. Implants are not mass-produced products; the product range is very broad. KOCH was able to offer a perfect solution!

Each pallet can be used for all six formats, so no exchange is necessary when changing products.

Two lasers cut the Tyvek film for precise sealing – for formats of up to 700 millimeters in length.

After the cutting process with the laser systems, a transfer device with suction grippers picks up the Tyvek film.
